Bruce E. Sullivan, age 71 of Croton, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016 at the Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids following a short illness. Bruce was born on December 12, 1944 in Fremont to Bertram and Norma (Mosher) Sullivan and graduated from Newaygo High School in 1963. Bruce later married Doris Dosch on February 5, 1965 in Newaygo. Bruce has been a lifelong resident of the Newaygo area where he had been a heavy equipment operator for Howarth Excavating and later Powells Excavating until his retirement. Bruce had been a member of the Croton Fire Department for 10 years, enjoyed hunting, traveling, vegetable gardening, being in the woods and cutting wood. Bruce especially enjoyed spending time with family and was the best husband, dad, grandpa any family could ask for. Bruce is survived by his wife of 51 years, Doris of Newaygo; his daughters, Sue Ayers of Newaygo; Denise Norton of Cedar Springs; his grandchildren, Ashley Clemenshaw, Joe Cox, Brandon (Victoria) Ayers; his great grandchildren, Jerzie Hernandez, Kyria Cox, Avery Ayers, Blake Ayers; his sister, Sharon (Dave) Czarnopys of Grand Rapids; his half siblings, Evan Force of Grand Rapids; Nancy (Mike) Morgan of Newaygo; Sally Reed of Newaygo; Molly Nelson of Newaygo; Bonnie (Bud) Burns of Newaygo; Mike (Mary Jane) Sullivan of Newaygo; several nieces and nephews. Bruce was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Deuling. VISITATION : Monday, April 11, 2016 from 4-7pm at Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel (1109 Court Street White Cloud MI 49349) FUNERAL SERVICES : Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 11am at the Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel with Pastor Mike King of the Community Fellowship Church presiding. INTERMENT : Big Prairie Everett Township Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Spectrum Health Foundation for the Susan P. Wheatlake Cancer Center in Reed City.
