Burr B. Hunt, age 90 of Fremont, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2015 following a long decline in his health. Burr was born on August 21, 1924 in Fremont to Orlo James and Loula Rowena (Bettys) Hunt and graduated from Fremont High School. Burr joined the United States Army after graduation and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his service as a Sergeant during World War II. Burr married Beverly Christenson on June 10, 1945 in Fremont and has been a lifelong resident of Fremont. Burr was a rural mail carrier in Newaygo County for many years where he received the Outstanding Rural Mail Carrier for the State of Michigan in 1979. He served as the Area Steward of the Rural Letter Carrier Association for a quarter of the State of Michigan for over 20 years and was a member of the National Rural Letter Carriers Association. Burr was instrumental in establishing the Neighborhood Watch in Sheridan Township and was a volunteer driver for mental health and a volunteer in the community for many years. Burr was also a lifelong member of the Fremont United Methodist Church. Burr is survived by his wife of 70 years, Beverly of Fremont; his children, Marcia (Bob) Hunt Schwartz of Newaygo; Wendy (Reggie) Sellers of Pensacola, Florida; David E. (Jill) Hunt of White Cloud; his grandchildren and their families, Jeff (Bryn) Sellers and their children, Lacey and twins, Cole and Carson; Trisha Sellers (Stephen) Smith and their children, Ashley, Brady, and Blake; Clint Storms. Burr was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Texis and Roger Saur. VISITATION : Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 9:30am 11:00 am at the Fremont United Methodist Church 351 Butterfield Fremont with MEMORIAL SERVICES : Saturday, Aug. 22 at 11am at the church. INTERMENT : Maple Grove Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Michigan Special Olympics Area 21 or Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or Fremont United Methodist Church Mission Fund.
