C. E. Al Ramey, age 90 of Fremont, passed away Friday, February 20, 2009 at the Transitional Health Services in Fremont. Al was born on July 29, 1918 in Otto Township to Forest E. and Alice (Gillian) Ramey and graduated from Shelby High School. Al later met and married Lila Britton on February 20, 1943 in Fremont. Al started work at the Gerber Products Company following graduation from high school until his retirement after 43 years. Al has been a long time resident of the area where he enjoyed farming all his life, tinkering on his farm and spending time and taking care of his family. Al was also a member of the Hesperia United Methodist Church.

Al is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lila of Hesperia; his daughter, Marie Ramey of Fremont; his grandchildren, Jason Mastenbrook of Fremont; Krystal Mastenbrook of Chicago; his great grand daughter, Gwendolyn Robbins; his brother, Clee (Gladys) Ramey of Hesperia; his sister, Darleen (Tom) Hronek of Muskegon; his sister-in-laws, Nelda (Knox) Powers of Fremont; Helen Britton of Fremont; several nieces and nephews. Al was preceded in death by his sister, Meldora Poulson.

VISITATION : Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Tuesday at 11am from the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel with Rev. Dr. Richard Morrison presiding.
