Candice Kay Applegate, age 67, of Holton passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at Mercy Health Partners – Sherman Campus. Candice was born on January 4, 1951, in Fremont to Homer D. and Alice Irene (Ransom) Johnson and married William "Bill" A. Applegate on July 11, 1987, at the Cornerstone Free Methodist Church in Holton. Candice was a teacher for the Head-Start Program in Holton and Ravenna and loved children. She enjoyed gardening and collecting dolls. Candice especially cherished her time with her family. Candice is survived by her children, Matthew Allen (Stephanie) Marr of Nebraska, Melonie (Tim) Brannam of Holland, Mark Edward Marr of Holton, and Allison Kay (Barney Carrier) Wilson of Holton; 15 grandchildren, Ronald, David, Erik, Michael, Kristina (Timothy), Jacqueline (Chris), Roger (Rebecca), Brian, Amanda, Nathan, Brittany, Marco, Candice, Robin, and Austin; 20 great-grandchildren; brothers and sister, Homer L. Johnson, Randy Johnson, Rex (Sue) Johnson, Luke (Datalena) Johnson, and Brenda (Robert) Miller. She was preceded by her parents, Homer and Alice Johnson; granddaughter, Daffney Wolting; sister, Ruth Johnson; and brother, Robert R. Johnson. Services will be at 12 noon, on Monday, June 25, 2018, at the Cornerstone Free Methodist Church in Holton with Pastor David Gruber officiating. There will be visitation and time to greet the family at the Church starting at 10 AM prior to the service. Interment will be in Holton Cemetery.
