Carl J. Cygeirt, 65, of Holton passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 30, 1997 at his home. He was born on August 28, 1932 in Muskegon to Peter and Victoria (Cihos) Cygeirt and married Carol Curow on June 30, 1956 in Muskegon. He has been a resident of the Holton area since 1975 and was retired from the Teledyne Continental Motor Company in Muskegon. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Brunswick and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Holton American Legion, Cobb, Trygstad, Anderson Post #397; West Michigan Street Rod Association; Seaway Gun Club; was presently serving as Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus in Fremont.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; six children, Carl (Cindy) Cygeirt Jr. of Holton Debra (Robert) Goodrick of Coloma; Timothy Cygeirt of Fremont; Pamela (David) Schmitt of Fremont; Michael Cygeirt of Hesperia; and Brian (Debra) Cygeirt of Holton; fourteen grandchildren Daniel & Maya Cygeirt; Nicholas & Andrew Goodrick; Shanna, Tabitha, Hannah & Logun Schmitt; Samantha, Anthony & Kenneth Cygeirt; Deanna Lamb; Wesley & Christopher Cygeirt; two sisters Lorraine (Kenneth) Vanas of Muskegon; Dorothy (Frank) Schubert of Muskegon; one sister-in-law, Beverly Cygeirt of Muskegon. He was preceded in death by one brother, Peter Cygeirt in 1997.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, January 3, 1997 from the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Brunswick with Father Donn Tuffs presiding with interment in St. Michael's Catholic Church Cemetery. Friends are asked to consider the St. Michael's Catholic School for memorial contributions. Envelopes are available at the Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont.
