Carl Owen Ebenstein, age 83 of White Cloud, passed away peacefully at his home following a short illness on Thursday, July 12, 2018. Carl was born on August 22, 1934 in Fremont to Charles Edward and Elva L. (Gibbs) Ebenstein and later graduated from White Cloud High School in 1952. After high school, Carl worked at Teledyne Continental Motors in Muskegon before he began his career as a surveyor for the Newaygo County Road Commission until his retirement in 1979. Carl married Mary (Callen) Alt on May 30, 1987 in Las Vegas. Carl was an avid hunter and fisherman, had been active in the Boy Scouts of American in White Cloud where he was a scout leader for many years. Carl also enjoyed mushroom hunting, riding motorcycles in his younger years and listening to music. Carl is survived by his wife of 31 beautiful years, Mary of White Cloud; his children, Julie Chaney of Hudsonville; Jeff (Sheila) Ebenstein of White Cloud; Joy (Robert) Jorgensen of Clarksville; Jon Ebenstein of White Cloud; his step children, Tim (Cathie) Alt of Coopersville; Todd Alt of Grand Rapids; Travis Alt of White Cloud; 26 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; his brother, Orrie (Pat) Ebenstein of White Cloud. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elva Ebenstein and by his son-in-law, Harry Chaney.
