Carl Murphy passed away at his home May 22, 2019. He was born on December 29th, 1938 to John and Luella Murphy on that same piece of property. He continued to work the family farm for most of his life and was never seen without his trademark cowboy hat. He was an avid horseman, hunter, fisherman, and loved a good conversation. He is survived by his siblings Daniel Murphy, William Murphy, and Mary Murphy; his children, Tammie Murphy (Adam Bronkema), Shannon (Ed) Whelan, and Jim Murphy; his grandchildren, Tiffany (Nick) Fairbanks, Brian Whelan, Andy Murphy, Jake Whelan, Josh Whelan (Aubree Kruszynski), Joeleen Whelan, Nathan Murphy, Michael Murphy, Holly Whelan, Casey (Kyle) Vogel, and John Bronkema; his great-grandchildren, Hoyt Whelan, Brindle Whelan, Levi Whelan, Memphis Whelan, and Harper Vogel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Murphy; his parents, John and Luella Murphy; his brother, Patrick Murphy; and several close lifelong friends. Services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at the Fremont Christian Church Disciples of Christ with Pastor David Dickinson officiating.
