Carol J. (Reedy) Brookman, age 82, of Newaygo passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2016, at Transitional Health Services in Fremont. Carol was born on April 24, 1934, in Lansing to Abraham and Alice (Mooney) Reedy. Carol was a graduate of Grand Ledge High School and the Grand Rapids School of Bible and Music where she met and married her husband, Stanley Ross Brookman on June 25, 1954, in Grand Rapids. Carol served for seven years at the missionary radio station ELWA in Monrovia, Liberia. For much of her life, Carol was a writer, publishing articles, children's stories, Bible Club Lessons, and many "On Croton Pond" and "Healing Path" columns in the Fremont Times Indicator.

Carol is survived by her children, Karen Lee (Jeff) Conolly of Hillsdale, Michigan, and Paul Stanley Brookman of Newaygo; grandchildren, Jennifer (Tim) Ambrose, Julie (Chris) Maurer, Jeffrey (Kimberlee) Conolly, Gabe (Jill) Hulvey, and Robin Williams; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stan in 2001; brother, Howard Reedy; and daughter-in-law, Dorothy Brookman in 2015.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, December 16, 2016, at the Fremont Christian Church – Disciples of Christ with Pastor David Dickinson officiating. There will be visitation for Carol one hour prior to the service at the Church (10-11AM). Interment will be in Croton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mel-Trotter Ministries.
