Carol Anne Cygeirt, age 84 of Fremont, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, March 13, 2020. Carol was born on July 2, 1935 in Manton, Michigan to Frederick and Margaret (Griswold) Curow and later moved to the Muskegon area. Carol graduated from Hackley School of Nursing in Muskegon and later received her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. She started work as a Registered Nurse at Muskegon General Hospital and later moved to the Holton area in 1975 where she worked at Gerber Memorial Hospital in Fremont until her retirement from the oncology department in 2005. Carol married Carl Cygeirt June 30, 1956 in Muskegon and Carl preceded her in death on December 30, 1997. She then married Earl Smalligan on July 20, 1999 in Fremont and he preceded her in death on April 14, 2008. Carol was a member of the St. Michael Catholic Church in Brunswick where she had sang in the choir, enjoyed reading, traveling, cooking, playing volleyball in her younger years and especially enjoyed family gatherings and being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Carol is survived by her children, Carl Cygeirt Jr. of Holton; Debra (Robert) Goodrick of Allendale; Timothy (Trisha) Cygeirt of Fremont; Pamela (David) Schmitt of Fremont; Michael (Joni) Cygeirt of Holton; Brian (Debra) Cygeirt of Holton; 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 stepsons and 2 step daughters; her brothers, Fred (Judy) Curow of Traverse City; Jerry Curow of Searchlight, Nevada. MEMORIAL MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL : Saturday, July 11, 2020 at 11am at the St. Michaels Catholic Church 6382 S Maple Island Road Fremont MI 49412 with Rev. Father Peter C. Schafer presiding. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : St. Michael Catholic Church. INTERMENT : St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in Brunswick. Time of fellowship following Mass Services at the Holton American Legion.
