Obituary

Carol Jean McAllister, age 80 of Fremont, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 16, 2019 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. Carol was born on June 8, 1939 in Fremont to J.C. and Dora (Kolk) Dykman and graduated from Fremont High School in 1957. Carol later married David F. McAllister on October 7, 1967 in Hesperia and Dave preceded her in death on March 21, 2007. Carol had worked at Gerber Products Company in the payroll department for 28 years until her retirement in 1995 and later worked part time as a secretary at the Presbyterian Church in Las Cruces, New Mexico. After their retirement, Carol and Dave retired to Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1996 where the enjoyed their time until Carol returned to Fremont in 2012. Carol was a member of the Fremont Church Of The Nazarene and enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, quilting, sewing, traveling; had been an avid bowler and enjoyed bowling tournaments. Carol's greatest love however was her grandchildren and great grandchildren and spending time with them. Carol is survived by her children, Wendy Jo (Dennis) Ingersoll of Fremont; Doreen J. (Don) Koch of Hesperia; David J. McAllister of Holton; her grandchildren, Allissia, Ryan (Jackie); Austin (Misty); Summer, Kara, Kinsey (Jakob); Samuel; 14 great grandchildren; her sister and brothers, Sam (Peach) Dykman of Muskegon; Ruth Ackerman of Fremont; Paul (Susan) Dykman of Rothbury; Howard (Kaye) Dykman of Fruitport; sisters-in-laws, Mary "Monie" Maurisak and Kathy Faulkner; several special nieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her grandson, Benjamin Koch and by her brother-in-law, Dave Ackerman. CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICES : Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 2:00 pm at the Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel with a TIME OF VISITATION from 12-2pm at the funeral home. There will be a luncheon and continued time of fellowship following the service at the Fremont High School Cafeteria. INTERMENT : Maple Grove Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Fremont Church of The Nazarene or Newaygo Medical Care Facility Enrichment Room Fund.
