Carole Ann Balcom, age 71, of Hesperia, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2009, at the Poppen House in Muskegon. She was born Carole Ann James on July 10, 1937, in Muskegon, the daughter of David and Marie Cousineau and was raised by Henry and Ruth James. She married Wayne Sweet Balcom on June 20, 1970, in Muskegon and was employed by the Michigan Employment Security Commission as a data entry clerk for 21 years. Carole is survived by her step-children, Lynne (Tom) Shlaffer of Fremont, Sheryl (Ken) Scissons of Hesperia, and Tim (Karen Hills) Balcom of Hesperia; 3 sisters, Dolores (Clyde) Buckley of Muskegon, Autumn (Robert) Stanley of Chico, California, and Susan (Kerry) McGovern of Muskegon; brother, Kevin Cousineau of Muskegon; 8 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne; step-mother, Estelle Cousineau; and brother, Allen Cousineau. Memorial services were held on Monday, May 11, 2009, at the Hesperia Presbyterian Church with Rev Dick Williams officiating. Interment is in West Hesperia Cemetery.
