Obituary

Catherine M. Kay Bell, age 83 of White Cloud, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at the Peaceful Acres Adult Foster Care Home in Howard City following a short illness. Kay was born on December 6, 1925 in Farmerville, Louisiana to Willie and Beulah (Reppond) Bell and later married Clarence Al Bell on May 30, 1948 in Camden, Arkansas. Al preceded her in death on May 29, 1991. Kay lived in Chicago for many years where she was a Deputy with the Cook County Sherriffs Department where she was the Supervisor of Returns until her retirement in 1989. Kay was active in politics and volunteered fro many years at the Democratic Party 10th Ward in Chicago. In 1990, after her retirement, Kay moved to the Brohman area where she was active volunteer with the Monroe Township Board, served on the Monroe Township Zoning Board and had volunteered at the Commission on Aging assisting with tax preparation. Kay was also an active member of the White Cloud Lions and assisted with the scholarship program with the Lions Club. Kay also had enjoyed ceramics, stained glass, gardening in her flower garden and feeding and watching the birds at her home. Kay is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Clyde (Connie) Bell of Algonquin, Illinois; her sister-in-law, Tink Hines of Chester, Virginia; several nieces and nephew; many dear friends in the White Cloud area. VISITATION : Thursday (TODAY) from 5-7pm at Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel. GRAVESIDE SERVICES : Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 10am from the South Whitley Cemetery near Columbia City, Indiana. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Renucci House at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus.
