Cowley (McCumber), Mrs. Catherine Mrs. Catherine (Katie) McCumber/Cowley, age 83, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones on May 18th, 2003 . Born on August 11, 1919 , in Lapeer, MI. to George and Beulah (Hutton) Schrader, she had lived in the Fremont and Twin Lake area the majority of her life. She married Glen McCumber in December, 1946, and became a widow in September, 1971. She married Edgar Cowley in November, 1975, and again became a widow in December 1991. Catherine was also preceded in death by 3 brothers; Hut, Bob, and Phil Schrader and 1 son, Michael Goodrich. Katie Cowley had been a homemaker and a LP Nurse at Muskegon General Hospital and Newaygo Medical Care Facility before her retirement in 1984. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, motorcycle riding and was an avid card player. She belonged to a womens card club, was a member of the Holton American Legion Auxiliary, and was a former member of the Twin Lake United Methodist Church . Survivors include Walt Campbell, her companion of 8 years; 3 sons, George ( Sandy ) Goodrich of Niles, MI.; Tom (Cathy) McCumber & Tim (Nancy) McCumber of Twin Lake; daughter Kerry Witte of Holton; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 28th, at 10:30 AM with Pastor Robert Crawford Jr. officiating. Burial is at McCumber Cemetery in Ruby Creek.
