Charles A. Dore, age 89 of White Cloud, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at the Grand Oaks Nursing Home in Baldwin. Charles was born on June 26, 1921 in Holton Township to Arthur John and Anna (Venske) Dore and later married Evelyn Rose Mead on June 1, 1957 in Holton. Charles has been a resident of the White Cloud area for the past 25 years after moving from Muskegon. Charles had worked at the Norge Foundry in Muskegon, Continental Motors Company in Muskegon and later retired from Noren Pattern and Foundry. Charles enjoyed hunting, camping, playing solitaire and loved to garden. Charles especially enjoyed spending time with his nephews, Robert, Chris and Jeff. Charles served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the Croton American Legion, Post #381. Charles is survived by his wife of 54 years, Evelyn Rose of White Cloud; brothers and sister-in-law, James (Linda) Atwater of White Cloud; Jim (Henrietta) Mead of Shelby; Paul (Marie) Mead of Arkansas; several nieces and nephews, including Robert Atwater of White Cloud, Chris Atwater currently serving in Afghanistan with the United States Army and Jeff Atwater currently serving in Afghanistan with the United States Air Force. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Anna Dore and by his brothers, Ken Dore and Clarence Dore. Military Honors will be given on Monday, May 23, 2011 at 11am at the Croton American Legion Post #381 with a memorial luncheon following at the post. Interment services will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 10:30 at Big Prairie Township Cemetery following cremation.
