Obituary

Charles E. Burns, age 88 of Hesperia and formerly of Fremont, passed away Thursday at his home following a lingering illness. Chuck was born on April 29, 1923 in Muir to Edward and Violette Fern (Johnston) Burns and has been a resident of the Hesperia area since 1982. Chuck married Marjorie Enell on Dec. 19, 1942 in Muskegon and Marjorie preceded him in death on Feb. 14, 1981. He married Naomi Stone Morehouse on Nov. 7, 1981 and she preceded him in death on July 27, 1997. He later married Jean Post on July 24, 1999 in Hesperia. Charles had been a lineman for Consumers Power Company for over 30 years until his retirement in 1978. Chuck had been co-owner of Chuck & Ralphs C & R Lounge in Fremont and had enjoyed playing cards, socializing with his friends and was a member of the Hesperia American Legion Post #411 and was a 50 plus year member of the Fremont Moose Lodge #1555. Special thanks to Jennie, Chris and Hospice of Michigan for the care given to Chuck. Chuck is survived by his wife, Jean Post of Hesperia; his daughters, Ginny (Jim) Mansfield of Fremont; Gayle (Don) Visscher of Fremont; Jackie (Terry) Hickman of Fremont; step children, Dale; Carol; Raymond (Mary K.); Bridgette; Wilford; Marva Jean (Jeff); Randy; Charlotte (Nick); 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; several step grand and great grandchildren; his brother, James Jim Burns of Curtis, Michigan; sister-in-law, Doris Burns of Edmore. He was preceded in death by his sister, Fern Hill and brother, Dick Harold Burns. VISITATION : Saturday 5-8pm and 1 hour prior to the services at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 2pm at the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. INTERMENT : Bridgeton Township Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Hesperia American Legion or Hospice of Michigan.
