Charles Scott Hopkins, age 53 of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and formerly of Fremont, passed away Monday, October 5, 2009 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Charles was born on November 2, 1955 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Charles Chuck and Ruth (King) Hopkins and later graduated from Fremont High School 1974. Charles had been a chef in the food service industry for many years and enjoyed hiking and took pride that he had traveled every trail in the Grand Canyon. He enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, skiing and the outdoors and fishing. He was also a member of the Fremont Moose Lodge #1555. Charles is survived by his brothers and sister, Richard Hopkins of Bentonville, Arkansas; Mike (Michelle) Hopkins of Fremont; Duane (Debra) Hopkins of Fremont; Marian (David) Chilcote of Twin Lake; Terry Hopkins of Fremont; several nieces and nephews; his aunt, Marie King of Fremont; uncle, Maurice (Grace) Racey of Fremont; uncle, Jim Hopkins of El Paso, Texas. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Chuck on February 19, 1995; his mother, Ruth on January 9, 2008; and his brother, Jerry on August 18, 1999. A time of remembrance was held on Monday, October 19, 2009 from 5-7pm at the Fremont Moose Lodge #1555 to celebrate and remember Charles. Cremation has taken place in Arkansas with burial of the cremated remains near Fremont. Arrangements by Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel.
