Charles "Chuck" Jay Scott, age 89 of Fremont, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2022 at the Newaygo County Compassion Home in Fremont. Chuck was born on February 8, 1933 in Bridgeton Township to Roy Jay and Ethel (Hansen) Scott and later married Helen Edna Koonsman on April 7, 1951 in Holton. Chuck had worked at Brunswick Corporation in Muskegon for many years until his retirement as a jeep driver in 1995. Chuck had enjoyed bowling, shuffleboard and playing pool in Florida, and watching the Detroit Tigers Baseball. Chuck and Helen had spent their winters in Zephyr Hills, Florida for 25 years as well. Chuck is survived by his wife of 71 years, Helen of Fremont; his children, Kathy Robins of Fremont; Bruce Scott of Holland; Barbara Schlattman (significant other, Brian Johnson) of Muskegon; son-in-law, Dan (Peg) Rogers of Fremont; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren. Chuck was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Rogers in 2006; his daughter-in-law, Wendy Scott in 2011; his son-in-law, Kevin Robins in 2021; 3 grandsons, Daniel Rogers Jr., Christopher Rogers, and Steven Overley; his brother, Harold Scott and his sister, Judy Knudsen. Private Family Graveside services will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Holton following Chuck's wishes for cremation.
