Obituary

Charles Merril Wiseman, 91, of Croton, entered into God's kingdom on November 29, 2023. He was born February 3, 1932 in Sterling, Indiana. Charlie or Chuck, as many knew him, lived most of his growing up years in southern Indiana, primary around his family farm in English. At a young age, Charlie's father was in an accident, resulting in him quitting his schooling to help take over the farm duties. Charles joined the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War including a post in Germany as Military Police. Charlie met the love of his life, Sandra, in 1950 and married her after returning state-side in 1955. Shortly thereafter, Chuck and Sandy moved to the Grant area where they had three children and Charles worked several jobs including at his mother-in-law's bakery, for the county road commission, and eventually spending the rest of his career running a chrome plating line at Keeler Brass in Grand Rapids. He retired in 1993 and eventually moved with his wife to Croton where they spent their last decades together. He took his retirement very seriously; taking every chance he could to fish, hunt, cut wood, garden, visit his family in southern Indiana, and love on his beagle pups. Most of all, though, he provided so much love (sometimes in the tough form), guidance, and support to his children and grandchildren. Charlie was a dedicated member of the Church of Christ. Always aware of the blessings of his faith, family, and country, he never forgot to end his prayers with thankfulness for his forgiveness through Jesus, a blessing on his family, and a prayer for safety for our troops. Charles is survived by his son Charles L. (Joyce) Wiseman, daughter Jewell Wiseman, son-in-law James Brady, grandchildren Loretta (Rick) Powers, Charles J. (Sara) Wiseman, Gerald (Tanya) Manley, Matthew (Kayla) Wiseman, and Amber (Jason) Tatro. Charles also leaves the legacy of his great grandchildren, Jarrid Line, Cody Tatro, Grace and Lucy Powers, Nevaeh and James Kuyers, and Hunter and Chase Manley, as well as great great granddaughter, Raelynn Line; his brother, Gene (Mary) Wiseman of Indiana; and many nieces and nephews who loved him. Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra, daughter, Rebecca Brady, parents Elmer and Inez Wiseman, his brothers: Lester, Jackie, Darrell, and James and sisters: Evelyn, Delores, and Betty.
