Charles Bud E. Rider, age 87 of the Hardy Dam area, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at the Metron Nursing Center in Big Rapids. Charles was born on July 20, 1926 in Kennan, Wisconsin to Thomas and Myrtle Lillian (Hickock) Rider and later married Donna Aspinall on June 2, 1944 in Besemer, Michigan. Donna preceded him in death on January 26, 2005. Charles and Donna had built their home in the Hardy Dam area and owned and operated Riders Trailer Court and Riders LP Gas Services in the Hardy Dam area from 1958 until their retirement in 1988. Charles had enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and spending time with his family. Charles is survived by his sons, Donald and Pam Rider of Goodyear, Arizona; Jim and Karen Rider of Big Rapids; his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Laura & Burke Swanson and their children, Jessica and Kathryn; Brenda (Dennie) Fitzgerald; Michael & Janie Rider and their children, Michael Andrew, Marie, Mesa; Tina & Cris Bogart and their children, Chase, Marisa, Ella, and Cameron; his great great granddaughter, Adalie Bisker; his sister, Adalaide Mayme Buckalew of Kalamazoo; his brother, Thomas Jim (Peggy) Rider of Charlevoix; sister-in-law, Mary Rider of Hastings. Charles was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Ray Rider; Frank Rider; Martha Thompson; Nancy Yelkin; Ruth Chaffee. VISITATION : Wednesday, December 4, 2013 from 10 am 12 pm at the Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel with FUNERAL SERVICES at 12 pm at the funeral home. INTERMENT : Croton Township Cemetery.
