Charles D. Spencer, age 93, of Twin Lake, passed away on July 12, 2012, at his home. Charles was born on February 17, 1919, to Gerald and Myrtle (Walters) Spencer and married Arlene Lucille Burnham on May 11, 1955, in Muskegon. Charles was an engineer and had worked for Deitz House Movers in Muskegon. Charles is survived by his children, Donna Smith of Newberry and Marilyn Spencer of Grand Rapids; brothers and sisters, Iva M. (Edward) Simot of Muskegon, Ila (Doyle Cleland) VanBrecklin of Grant, Cathy Spencer of Oscoda, Richard Spencer of TN., Sherri (James) Urban of Au Gres, Kenneth Spencer of Tawas City, and Jim Spencer of TN.; special nieces and nephews Irvin and Denise Smith and Ike and Joyce Smith and many other nieces and nephews; and special friend Leona Stone. He was preceded in death by Arlene in 2004, his brother, Gerald F. Spencer and sisters, Ida Smith and Clara Alford. A graveside service at Big Prairie Cemetery will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at 11 AM. For a more lasting memorial, friends are asked to consider Harbor Hospice.
