Obituary

Charles W. Bud Thatcher, age 83 of White Cloud, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at his home following a short illness. Bud was born on April 4, 1927 in Ina, Illinois to Charles and Clara (Boham) Thatcher and graduated from Moline High School in 1945. Bud joined the United States Army immediately after graduation and served during World War II. Following his discharge, Bud came to White Cloud where he met and later married Barbara Purcey on October 20, 1951 in Hesperia. Bud had worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Newaygo County Road Commission until his retirement in 1988 after more than 30 years of service. Bud enjoyed woodworking in his shop, gardening, taking care of his lawn, fishing and traveling the United States and Canada with Barb after their retirement. Bud was a member of the White Cloud United Methodist Church. SURVIVORS : his wife of 58 years, Barb of White Cloud; his children, Janet (Paul) Fetterley of White Cloud; Chuck (Ingrid) Thatcher of White Cloud; Mike Thatcher of White Cloud; Becky (Ron) Panzika of Crossville, Tennessee; Mary (Mark) Cardinal of Linden, Michigan; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; his sisters, Kaye Duncan of Moline, Illinois; Phyllis Crawford of Belding; his sister-in-law, Barbara Thatcher of White Cloud. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Dale, Harold, and Kenny Thatcher and by his sister, Ailene. VISITATION : Thursday, May 13, 2010 from 5-8pm at the White Cloud United Methodist Church. FUNERAL SERVICES : Friday, May 14, 2010 at 1pm at the White Cloud United Methodist Church. INTERMENT : White Cloud Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBTUIONS : White Cloud United Methodist Church Youth Group, Food Pantry or Heartland Hospice. Chuck, Ingrid & Mike...So sorry I was out of town & not able to attend your dad's funeral. I got back Fri.evening & Roni told me he had passed. I am so sorry for your loss, but, we all know he is in a better place & his suffering is over.
