Christy, Charles "Chuck" W. Charles Chuck W. Christy, age 90 of White Cloud and formerly of Algonac, Michigan, passed away quietly on Friday, January 13, 2006 at the Metron Nursing Center in Big Rapids. Chuck was born on January 13, 1916 in Algonac, Michigan to Robert James and Ruth Pearl (Mudge) Christy and graduated from Algonac High School in 1934. He later married Stephanie Weglarz on December 30, 1940 and Chuck and Stephanie moved to the White Cloud area in 1977. Chuck worked as an Engineer on the Great Lakes Shipping Boats for 11 years after high school, then started work at the Chris Craft Boat Company for 15 years and then became a self employed carpenter for the rest of his life. Chuck was an active member of the Algonac Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years where he served as Santa Claus for many years. He enjoyed music, had been involved with the Boy Scouts, had been an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed his carpentry skills and making items for his grandchildren. He was a good cook and enjoyed cooking for the fire department, boy scouts, at hunting camp and at his home as well. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Stephanie of White Cloud; his children, Don (Becky) Christy of Pinconning, Michigan; Marsha (Michael) Preston of Marquette, Michigan; his daughter-in-law, Patricia Christy of Cheboygan; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; his sister, Martha Kessel of Marine City; his brother, Russell Christy of Marysville, Michigan; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Charles F. Christy on September 14, 2004 and by 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 from the Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel with interment in the Goodwell Township Cemetery.
