Charlotte Ann Bier, age 59 of White Cloud, passed away peacefully but unexpectedly on Monday, December 7, 2020 at the Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. Char was born on August 14, 1961 in Muskegon to Charles Wayne and Judith Jean (Maitland) Hawkins and moved to the White Cloud area in 1983 from Wolf Lake. Char met and later married David Bier on December 1, 1989 in White Cloud. Char had worked at the Newaygo County Jail Kitchen for a time, had been a Meals on Wheels Driver and was currently employed at Magna Mirrors in Newaygo. She had served on the Newaygo County Victim Services Unit for several years, enjoyed doodling and coloring, arts and crafts, and native American decorations. Char's passion however was the Girl Scouts of America, where she served as the White Cloud Girl Scout Service Unit Director and had served in the Girl Scouts in various capacities for over 30 years.
Char is survived by her husband, David of White Cloud; her children, Lisa Harris of Grand Rapids; Melissa (Matthew) Stanley of Fremont; Clarissa Bier of White Cloud; David (Joanna Asuncion) Bier Jr. of White Cloud; her granddaughters, Darlene Harris, Kourtney Harris, Lakota Stanley, Layla Stanley; her great granddaughters, Alaya Whitney and Liliana Albaugh; her brothers, Wayne Hawkins of Hesperia and Albert Zuidema of Holland. Char was preceded in death by her mother, Judith Zuidema and her father, Charles Hawkins.
VISITATION : Thursday, December 10, 2020 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Crandell Funeral Home – White Cloud Chapel 1109 Court Street White Cloud MI 49349. NOTE : during the visitation, a limited number of people will be permitted into the funeral home and friends will need to rotate in and out of the funeral home during the visitation with face coverings being required. PRIVATE FUNERAL SERVICES : Friday, December 11, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Crandell Funeral Home – White Cloud Chapel with PUBLIC GRAVESIDE SERVICES and INTERMENT : Big Prairie Everett Township Cemetery immediately following the funeral services. Friends may choose to listen to the funeral services live via radio broadcasting on their car radios in the parking lot of the funeral home starting 5 minutes prior to the services by tuning their radio to 99.9. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Friends are asked to consider the Girl Scouts in Newaygo County Service Unit 228 for memorial contributions in memory of Char.
