Cherie Gaye (Gibson) Nauta, cherished mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the age of 55. Born in the vibrant city of Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Friday, September 19, 1969, Cherie lived a life full of love, dedication, and an abiding commitment to her family and community.

A devoted homemaker, Cherie filled her home with warmth and kindness, extending her nurturing spirit beyond her family to everyone who came into her life. Her laughter and love were the heart of her family, and her memory will always be a source of comfort and joy for those who knew her.

Cherie leaves behind a loving family, who were the greatest joys of her life. She is survived by her beloved mother, Susan "Ginger" Gibson of Fremont, MI; her son, Bradly Benham (Shelby Ettinger) of DeWitt; her stepdaughters, Allison and Emily Nauta; her son, Franklin Nauta; her daughter, Gabrielle Nauta of Fremont, MI; her brother, Albert "Al" (Amanda) Gibson Jr. of Port St. John, Florida and her loving, caring boyfriend; Mike Schwartz. Cherie's legacy continues in her grandchildren, Sydney Benham, Hunter Benham, and Savannah Benham, who will dearly miss their grandmother's affection and guidance.

She is preceded in death by her father, Albert Eugene "Gene" Gibson, her sister, Dawn Gibson,and her spouse, Daniel C. Nauta.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 21st, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Inspire Church in Fremont, MI. A funeral service, officiated by Sadie Kaminski, will follow at 11:00 am at the same location.

Cherie's family wishes to honor her memory by encouraging donations to Gilda's Club Grand Rapids, a cause close to her heart. This tribute reflects her enduring spirit of giving and her dedication to supporting others.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont. Her family invites all who knew her to join in remembrance of a beautiful soul who touched many lives with grace and compassion.
