Christena Mary Horning, age 69 of White Cloud, formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at the Spectrum Health Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Grand Rapids following a lingering illness. Christena was born on July 28, 1950 in Grand Ledge, Michigan to Orley George and Freda Elaine (Guild) Meister and later graduated from cosmetology school. Christena worked as a self-employed cosmetologist for several years and then became a pharmacy technician for Meijer Pharmacy at various locations in West Michigan prior to her retirement. Christena married Kenneth Douglas Horning on November 19, 1982 in Grand Rapids and Kenneth preceded her in death on October 2, 2013. Christena moved to the White Cloud area in 1999 and enjoyed spending time with friends at her home on Diamond Lake. She also enjoyed sewing, working in her garden, going out for dinner at Chinese Restaurants and her favorite dessert was lemon meringue pie. Christena is survived by her daughter, Kandice (Albert Florez) Arizola of Grand Rapids; sons, Douglas Horning of Cadillac; Michael (Melissa) Horning of Phoenix, Arizona; David (Anne-Terese) Horning of Centreville, Virginia; Jerry (Stacy) Lipsey of Coppell, Texas; her grandchildren, Hillary, Hannah, Alexander, Audrey, Anson, Lauren, Jane, Kristen (Jake), Brooke, Bracyn, Sydni, and Eva; her great grandchildren, Gabriel & Willow, Korbyn & Koralyn, Emerie; her brothers, Stephen (JoAnne) Meister and Glenn (Janice) Meister; nieces, Stephanie, Michelle, Cassandra and Jennifer; her first husband, Robert Lipsey of Saranac; former sister-in-law, Linda Meister; former son-in-law, Henry Arizola; many special friends around the Diamond Lake area. Christena was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth and by her daughter and son-in-law, Traci and Michael Timmer Jr. on June 21, 2019.
