Christine J. (Beck) Gerdes, age 96 of Fremont, passed away Monday, August 20, 2012 at the Sanctuary of the Park in Muskegon. Christine was born on May 31, 1916 in Chicago, Illinois to Francis and Mary (Ossowsky) Beck and later married Joseph Otto Gerdes on November 13, 1933 in Crowne Point, Indiana. Joseph preceded her in death on January 5, 1986. Christine moved to the Fremont area in 1946 from Blue Island, Illinois and had been a LPN at Hackley Hospital and the Newaygo Medical Care facility until her retirement. Christine had been a homemaker throughout her entire lifetime. Christine enjoyed playing Pinochle, Bridge and many other card games, golfing and traveling around the world. Christine truly enjoyed raising her family and was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church in Fremont. Christine is survived by her children, Joseph (Lisa) Gerdes of Hesperia; Raymond (Karen) Gerdes of Greenville; John (Karla) Gerdes of Florida; David (Carolyn) Gerdes of Muskegon; Mary (Tom) Nyman of Twin Lake; Clara (Kenneth) Greenberg of San Francisco, California; Anna (Frank) West of Stanton; Andrew (Linda) Gerdes of East Lansing; Ruth (Dennis) Casey of Muskegon; her daughter-in-law, Janet Gerdes of Green Valley, Arizona; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; her sister, Elizabeth Betty Preston of Midlothian, Illinois. Christine was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph and by her son, Paul Gerdes. VISITATION : Thursday, August 23, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass services at the All Saints Catholic Church. ROSARY SERVICES : Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 9:30am. MASS OF RESSURECTION : Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 11am with Rev. Father Peter Omogo presiding. INTERMENT : Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Fremont.
