Clarence Winfred Veltkamp, age 81 of White Cloud formerly of Oregon and Holland, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 23, 2011 at the Fountain View Retirement Village in Grant. Clarence was born on January 21, 1930 in Holland, Michigan to William and Winifred (Worst) Veltkamp and later married his beloved wife of 48 years Marie Bos in Grand Rapids in 1957. Marie preceded him in death in 2005. Clarence and Marie moved to Medford, Oregon in 1960 where he was the shop foreman and master mechanic at Central Equipment Company in Medford. During his time as foreman and mechanic, he designed and built various pieces and accessories for farming machinery and taught his mechanical skills to his co-workers. Clarences job was his true passion in life. Clarence also served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953 in the State of Washington, attaining the rank of Corporal. Clarence is survived by his siblings, William & Norma Veltkamp of Bailey; Orie & Erma Veltkamp of White Cloud; Betty & Don Isenga of Wyoming, Michigan; Jim & Karen Veltkamp of Kent City; Mary & William Crain of Newaygo; Shirley & Pete Bell of Grant; June & Michael OConnor of Kent City; Winnie & Paul Veurink of White Cloud; his brother-in-law, Art Boekestein; sisters-in-laws, Arlene Veltkamp and Sue Veltkamp; his god daughter, Wendy OReilly of Oregon; 3 god grandchildren, Lisa & Chris Gibson and family; Jenny & Randy Aten and family; John & Lindsay OReilly and family all of Oregon. He was preceded in death by his sister, Bertha Boekestein and his brothers, Harold Veltkamp and Kenneth Veltkamp. Private family services will be held at a later date with Clarence having interment in the Siskiyou Memorial Park in Medford, Oregon next to his wife Marie.
