Clifanne Joyce Thomas, a devoted mother, grandmother, and a cherished sister, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 8th, 2026, in Fremont, Michigan. She was born on January 15th, 1939, in Plainwell, Michigan, to her loving parents, Clifford Sage and Jane (Demorest) Sage.

Joyce's life was a testament to love, kindness, and devotion. Family was the core of Joyce's life, and she extended that same kindness and affection to all creatures, nurturing a deep love for animals. Joyce's legacy of love, kindness, and care for both her family and animals will be cherished in the hearts of those she touched throughout her life.

She was a remarkable mother to her daughter, Tracy (Rick) Anderson, and doted on her beloved granddaughter, Alexandra Anderson.She was a treasured sister to Kay (the Late Bob) Knitter and Clif (Laura) Sage and is remembered fondly by all who knew her. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, the Honorable Terrence Thomas, her sister, Ellen Nally, and her parents, Clifford and Jane (Demorest) Sage.

Joyce spent her final days surrounded by the compassionate staff at the Cottages at Martin Lake, whose kindness and care brought comfort to her family during her time there. Her family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff for the compassion and attention they provided.

In honoring Joyce's wishes, there will be no formal service at this time. A committal service will be scheduled later this fall to celebrate and remember her gentle spirit. Arrangements have been entrusted to Crandell Funeral Home - Fremont Chapel.
