Col. Douglas Frank Mack, age 87, of Fremont passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at home. Douglas was born on February 28, 1932, in Hart, Michigan, to Clare L. and Genevieve (Buber) Mack and married Doris Fay Dougan on May 31, 1968, in Grand Rapids where they made their home until moving to the Morley area in 1979. Doris preceded him in death on May 15, 2008. Douglas was an electrical lineman and belonged to the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Douglas proudly served in the Army National Guard for 34 years and retired from the service as a Colonel. He was a member of the 126th Infantry Association and member and Past Commander of the American Legion Post #554 of Morley. Douglas was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, and golf. Douglas loved his family and cherished his time with them.
Douglas is survived by his children, Vicki (Perry) Camden of Missouri, Guy (Michelle) Mack of Wyoming, Denise Clark of Fremont, and Ritarae Wilde of Fremont; grandchildren, Cheryl, Wayne, Jennifer, Melissa, Emily, Valarie, Michael, Samantha Jo, Levi, Daniel, Jasmine, Jade, and Isaac; many great grandchildren; brother and sister, Gary "Doc" (Gloria) Mack of Florida and Diane Dauser of Grand Rapids. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris in 2008; son, Frank Dale Mack; daughter, Bobby Mack; and brothers, Clinton Mack and Michael Mack.
Memorial services honoring Douglas's life and service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at the Crossroads Worship Center north of Howard City with Bishop Brad Reynolds officiating. (9530 Federal Road Howard City, MI 49329) There will be a time for friends to meet with the Mack family at the Church prior to the service starting at noon. There will be a fellowship luncheon served following the service at the Morley American Legion Post#554.
