Colen B. Parsons, age 94 of White Cloud, passed away Monday, May 20, 2013 at his home. Colen was born on May 2, 1919 in Muskegon to Harold F. and Ervilla (Haight) Parsons. Colen had been a resident of Casnovia Township for 32 years and moved to the White Cloud area in 1980. Colen married Rosemary J. Benjamin on September 24, 1940 in Muskegon and Rosemary preceded him in death on June 21, 1990. Colen later married Mary J. Fetterley and she preceded him in death on January 7, 2011. Colen had been a self employed road construction contractor for many years until his retirement in 1980, although Colen may have never retired completely. He was a member of the White Cloud United Methodist Church and had enjoyed working, building and learning how things worked, going out to eat, and driving the roads of Newaygo County and beyond. Colen is survived by his children, Janet (Robert) Brooks of Grant; Lorraine Thenikl of Byron Center; Peggy Harper of White Cloud; Bernard (Susan) Parsons of Traverse City; Harold Parsons of Vanderbilt; Scott (Nancy) Parsons of White Cloud; 20 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Fisk; his grandsons, David Hall and Christopher Nelson; his sisters, Bernice Hansen and Beatrice Woriol; his brother, Lloyd W. Parsons; his son-in-laws, Norman Hall, Henry Thenikl and Hugh Harper. VISITATION : Thursday, May 23, 2013 from 4-7 pm at the Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Friday, May 24, 2013 at 11am at the White Cloud United Methodist Church. INTERMENT : Ashland Township Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Newaygo County Commission on Aging.
