Cora M. Longstreet, age 89 of Fremont, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at the Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids following a short illness. Cora was born on March 21, 1926 in Missaukee County to Herman and Margaret (Vanderwal) Hemmes and graduated from Merritt High School in 1944. Cora married Kenneth Longstreet on February 17, 1945 in Houghton, Michigan and Ken preceded her in death on March 11, 1995. Cora moved to the Fremont area in 1948 from McBain and was a longtime member of the Second Christian Reformed Church and had been a homemaker and had worked at Elliotts Greenhouse and Thayers Flower Shop prior to retirement. Cora had been involved in Kids Hope USA, had enjoyed golf and had been very active in church activities and functions in her younger years Cora is survived by her sister, Esther Boaz of Quartz Hill, California; her brother-in-law, Harvey (Marian) Longstreet; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; several special friends in the Fremont area. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Caroline Kos, Alice Thomas; infant sisters, Leah Irene Hemmes and Mary Lou Hemmes; her brother, James Hemmes. VISITATION : Monday, June 22, 2015 from 10:00am 11:00am at the Second Christian Reformed Church 600 Apache in Fremont with FUNERAL SERVICES : Monday at 11:00am at the church. INTERMENT : Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Moddersville Cemetery in Missaukee County. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Kids Hope USA
