Obituary

Daniel L. Gardenour, age 85 of Fremont, passed away Tuesday, February 02, 2010 at his home following a long illness. Dan was born on April 23, 1924 in Muskegon to Roy C. and Dorothy C. (Gibson) Gardenour and moved to the Fremont area in 1962 in Muskegon. Dan had been a machinist at Teledyne Continental Motors in Muskegon for many years until his retirement in 1989. Dan met and later married Glenna Anderson in July 1985 in Fremont. Dan served in the United States Air Force during World War II and was a member of the Holton American Legion, Post #397. Dan was also a member of the Fremont Christian Church where he had served as an elder, worship chairperson and various committees at the church. Dan also enjoyed volunteering at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility. He is survived by his wife, Glenna of Fremont; his daughters, Judy Gardenour of Muskegon; Sandra Gardenour of Fremont; Gale (Dennis) Pell of Fremont; Dale (Dan) Balavitch of Muskegon; Patty Gardenour of Wisconsin; his son, Donald (Cheryl) Gardenour of White Cloud; 19 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; his stepchildren, Deborah Empie of White Cloud; Melissa (Shane) Hawes of Fremont; David (Nancy) Grover of Harrisville, Michigan; Eric (Robin) Bell of Fremont; his sister, Doris (Terry) Launer of Florida. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shirley Canniff; his grandson, Jonathon Gardenour; his brother, LeRoy Gardenour; infant child; and step grandson, Anthony Empie. VISITATION : Friday, February 5, 2010 from 12-2pm at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Friday, February 5, 2010 at 2pm at the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel with Rev. David Dickinson of the Fremont Christian Church presiding. INTERMENT : Sherman Township Cemetery. MILITARY RITES : Under the auspices of the Holton American Legion, Post #397.
