Daniel P. Schilling, age 80 of White Cloud, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at the Fountain View Retirement Village in Grant. Daniel was born on February 17, 1935 in White Lake, South Dakota to Daniel and Frances (Morath) Schilling. Daniel had worked for the Kent County Department of Corrections in the maintenance department for many years until his retirement. Daniel joined the United States Army where he served during the Korean War and was a member of the Croton American Legion Post #381. Daniel married Janet E. Sellon on April 17, 1987 and she preceded her in death on November 13, 2001. Daniel later married Edna (Jordan) Cook on January 2, 2004. Daniel was a member of the Newaygo United Methodist Church, had enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, amateur radio, and being in the Michigan outdoors. Dan was also a man of strong faith. Daniel is survived by his wife, Edna of Newaygo; his daughters, Ellen (James) Turek of Wyoming, Michigan; Daniel Schilling of Kent City; Dianna (Brent) Joppe of Cedar Springs; Lisa (Ron) Brow, of Belmont; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; several step children, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; his sisters, Mable Rowe of South Dakota; Mary Landman of Florida; John Schilling of Arizona; Frank (Patricia) Schilling of Texas. Dan was preceded in death by his grandson, Nicholas Schilling on July 23, 2015 and by his daughter-in-law, Pam Schilling. MEMORIAL SERVICES : Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 11:00am at the Newaygo United Methodist Church with Rev. Kathy Groff of the Newaygo United Methodist Church and Rev. Ed Snook of the White Cloud United Methodist Church presiding with interment in the Big Prairie Everett Township Cemetery in White Cloud. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the Newaygo United Methodist Church of the White Cloud United Methodist Church in memory of Dan.
