Daniel Lee Schooley, age 79, of Fremont passed away at home on Sunday, August 27, 2023. Dan was born on December 13, 1943, in Muskegon to William Henry and Lillian Viola (Berry) Schooley and married Judith Sue Miesen on July 6, 1963, in Fremont at the Fremont United Methodist Church. Dan had worked as a machine operator for Sealed Power in Muskegon and served as Bridgeton Township Treasurer for 44 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, golf, card games (especially cribbage), and was a member of the Holton United Methodist Church. Dan is survived by his loving wife, Judith; children, Kristine (Daniel) Ruthven of White Cloud, Michelle (Teresa) Schooley of Twin Lake, and Daniel (Georgia) Schooley of Holton; grandchildren, Amanda Parnell, Samantha (Tim) Perysian, Eric (Samantha) Ruthven, Mateo (Racheal) Botello, Leo (Hanna Risner) Botello, Britni (Allen) Murray, Becca (Troy) Gardner, Jacob (Jennifer) Wade, Bradly Schooley, Brooke (Joshua) Ehrke, and Kevin (Ceara) Schooley; great-grandchildren, Lillie, Lola, Lundyn, Lucie, John, Jaxson, Hailey, Trenton, Blake, Anahlia, and one on the way; sisters, Sandra Zaffer of Florida, Helen (Larry) Jenkins of Adrian, and Diane (Ken) Ketola of Tecumseh, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his brother, Frank (Arlene) Schooley; sisters, Doris (Lloyd) Hoffmeyer, Norma Purdy and Elaine Purdy; and granddaughter, Jessica Ann Gardner. Memorial services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at the Holton United Methodist Church with Pastor Matt Stoll officiating. There will be visitation for Dan at the Church prior to the service starting at 10 AM.
