Darlene L. Smith, age 72 of White Cloud, formerly of Holton, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the Transitional Health Services in Fremont. Darlene was born on July 8, 1941 in Grant to Arthur and Irene (Powles) Carrier and moved to the White Cloud area in 2010 from Holton where she had been a longtime resident. Darlene had been a homemaker and enjoyed listening to music, being in the Michigan outdoors, attending BBQs and following Nascar, especially Jimmy Johnson. Darlene is survived by her fiance, Donald Conkle Sr. of White Cloud; her children, Douglas (fianc, Kim) Smith of Muskegon; Dawn Hicks of Fremont; her grandchildren, Sara (David) Diaz of White Cloud; Kassie Smith of Twin Lake; her great grandchildren, Troy and Xavier; her brothers, Charles (Joanne) Carrier of Holton; Sid Carrier of Grant; Darold Carrier of Hart; Doug (Luanata) Carrier of Muskegon; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her niece, Kari Jo Carrier Morin.
