Darrell Taylor, age 92 of Fremont, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at the Fountain View Retirement Village in Fremont. Darrell was born on October 20, 1927 in Fremont to Neville and Joyce (Neal) Taylor and later married Ruth (Ekkel) Maat on January 26, 1979 in Fremont. Darrell has been a lifelong resident of the Fremont area where he had been a farmer all his life and had driven school bus for the Fremont Public Schools for many years until his retirement. Darrell also owned and operated Melody Acres Riding Stables in Fremont. He was a member of the Reeman Christian Reformed Church in Fremont. Darrell was a member of the West Michigan Draft Horse Club and enjoyed raising horses and driving draft horses. In his younger years, Darrell enjoyed camping, hunting and motorcycle riding. Darrell is survived by his wife, Ruth of Fremont; his children, Gil (Dawn) Taylor of Fremont; Linda (Don) Meisling of Georgetown, Kentucky; Holly (Joe) Moon of Fremont; Sandy (Mark) Burger of Whispering Pines, North Carolina; Marilyn (Tim) Schupp of Caledonia; Harold Maat of Muskegon; Una (Dave) Ebert of Rose Bush, Michigan; Harley Maat of Fremont; Ursula (Blayne) Beham of Wichita, Kansas; Morgan (Calvin) Crowley of Coleman, Michigan; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren. Darrell was preceded in death by his sister, Edna Taylor. Private Graveside Services will be held on Monday at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont.
