David J. Bennett, age 68 of Fremont, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 following a long battle with Parkinson's Dementia. Dave was born on July 16, 1949 in Fremont to Charles C. and Ruth A. (Pearson) Bennett. Dave graduated from Fremont High School in 1967 and later graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor's degree in Dairy Science in 1971. Dave returned to Fremont and continued working and became the 4th generation farmer of the family's centennial farm which started in1892 in Sheridan Township. Dave was known for his progressive and innovative farming practices through the years. Dave married Patricia L. DeMarr on September 12, 1969 in Fremont and was a member of the Holton United Methodist Church. Dave enjoyed family trips, and spending time with his grandkids. Dave had been a dairy and crop farmer for many years. He had a passion for racing and breeding Standardbred Horses and was a member of the Michigan Standardbred Breeders Association. He had been active in Farm Bureau on a local and state level; served on the Newaygo County Soil Conservation Board; served on various committees and boards of the Fremont United Methodist Church; and was a founding member of the Fremont FFA Ag Advisory Committee. Dave had been a strong supporter of the Fremont FFA and Newaygo County Agricultural Fair. Dave is survived by his wife of 48 years, Pat of Fremont; his children, Aaron (Leslie) Bennett of Fremont; Sarah (Jason Krebill) Bennett of Whitehall; Jane (Reggie) Ignash of Cass City; Michigan; Amber (Dave) Terakedis of Vestavia, Alabama; his grandchildren, Travis, Samantha, Kaitlynn and Jessica Bennett; Nora Krebill; Shelby, Skylar and Karsyn Ignash; Drew, Bryn and Will Terakedis; his great granddaughter, Braylee; his father, Charles Bennett of Fremont; his brother, Alan Bennett; several nieces and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth A. Bennett and his sister-in-law, Carol Bennett.
