Dix Jr., David T. David T. Dix Jr., age 84 of Newaygo, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2005 at the Transitional Health Services in Fremont. David was born on October 17, 1920 in Garfield Township to David T. and Etta (Weber) Dix and later married Mary (Kuhn) Armour in 1948 in North Muskegon. Mary preceded him in death in 1973. David has been a lifelong resident of Newaygo County and has lived in the Croton area since 1960 where he was the founder of Dix Lumber Company. He enjoyed golfing and NASCAR racing and was a veteran of World War II where he served in the United States Army and received the Bronze Star. He is survived by his daughter, Jean (Tom) Moon of Newaygo; his son, David (Tammy) Dix of Newaygo; grandchildren, Debra (Brad) Dubey of Rockford; Gregory Moon of Seattle, Washington; Denny (Kathy) Nelson of Newaygo; Marcy Dix of Fremont; David R. Dix of Newaygo; 2 great grandchildren, Evan and Landon Dubey; brother, Richard (Kay) Dix of Hesperia; sister, Dorothy Shutts of Newaygo; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Charles Dix and Robert Dix. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 5, 2005 from the Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel with Rev. Harry Bultema of the Croton Community Church presiding with interment in the Big Prairie Everett Township Cemetery.
