David Heykoop, age 65, of Fremont, passed away Friday at home. He was born on May 3, 1936, in Muskegon to Peter and Bell (Bushaw) Heykoop and married Lois Scott on August 16, 1986. David worked as a tool and dye maker for many years and was a member of the Cornerstone Free Methodist Church in Holton. He is survived by his wife Lois of Fremont; daughter, Roxanne (Dan) Russell of Muskegon; sons, Rev. Rodney (Joanne) Heykoop of Muskegon and Brian (Wanda) Heykoop of Rothbury; step-son Scott (Rebecca) Touzel of Hesperia; 19 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jenny (Charles) Schrader of Muskegon, Betty (Ron) Meadley of Twin Lake, and Mary Lou Hendon of Twin Lake; and sister-in-law Marg Heykoop of Croton. A son David, brother Pete and brother-in-law preceded him in death along with several other brothers and sisters. Visitation was held on Saturday, July 7, 2001, at the Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont with funeral services on Sunday, July 8, from the Cornerstone Free Methodist Church in Holton.
