Obituary

David E. Buck Jordan, age 85 of Fremont, formerly of Grant, passed away Friday, January 29, 2010 at the Transitional Health Services in Fremont. Buck was born on June 1, 1924 in Grant to Thomas E. and Ethel Irene (Morrison) Jordan and married Anna Sahlin on August 30, 1946 in Grant. Buck has been a lifelong resident of the area and served as the Newaygo County Drain Commissioner from December 31, 1980 until 1992. Buck also owned and operated Jordan Excavating in Grant for over 20 years. Buck was a member of the F&AM, Sparta Lodge #334; was Past Master of the F&AM Casnovia Lodge #481; member of the DeWitt Clinton Consistory and was a former member of the Shrine Club. Buck was a former member of the Grant Lions Club; White Cloud Rotary and had served on the Michigan Association of Drain Commissioners where he was past president. Buck also built the last 9 holes of the Village Green Golf Course in Newaygo. Buck was a veteran of World War II where he served in the United States Navy and was a member of the Croton American Legion, Post #381. Buck was a member of the Northland Church of Christ in Grant. Buck is survived by his wife, Anna Jordan of Fremont; his daughters, Sally Ann Jordan of Fremont; Marjorie L. (David) Ekkel of Fremont; his grandchildren, Chad (Angie) Ekkel; Lisa (Mitchell) Erickson; Murry Dayton Stocking; his great grandchildren, Ethan Ekkel; Makayla Ekkel, Seth Ekkel, Jillian Erickson; Murry David Jimenez; sisters and brothers, Fern TenBrink; Iris Scribner; Ivory (Dorothy) Jordan; Dean (Vi) Jordan; Donna (James) Johnson; Jesse (Marjorie) Jordan; several nieces and nephews. VISITATION : Friday, February 5, 2010 from 10-11am at the Northland Church of Christ in Grant. FUNERAL MEMORIAL SERVICES : Friday, February 5, 2010 at 11am at the Northland Church of Christ in Grant. INTERMENT : Maple Grove Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Northland Church of Christ Building Fund.
