David N. Thompson, age 80 of White Cloud, formerly of Kalamazoo, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 17, 2019 at the Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. David was born on November 25, 1938 in Marion, Indiana to David Hill and Ida Iris (Ackley) Thompson and graduated from Marion High School in 1956. David met Edith Bement during their high school days and were married on April 10, 1960 in Marion, Indiana. David and Edie moved to Kalamazoo in 1965 where David started working for General Motors Company in the Production Control Department where he worked for 33 years until his retirement on June 1, 1992. After retirement David then moved to the White Cloud area. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, pitching horseshoes, boating, shuffle boarding and spending his winters in Florida. Dave was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Fremont where he was currently an Elder, had served as Head Elder, had been bulletin secretary, served as a Lay Advisory Delegate, Sabbath School Teacher, was the Sonshine Band Coordinator and was instrumental in the building of the current church on Garden Street. David also enjoyed camping each summer at the Seventh Day Adventist Camp Meeting in Michigan and attending the General Motors Retirement luncheon and summer picnic of the Michigan snowbirds.
David is survived by his wife of 59 years, Edie of White Cloud; his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren – daughter, Dawn (Gary) Geigle of White Cloud and their children – Gary (Nicole) Geigle Jr. and their children and David's great grandchildren, Michael and Mya Geigle of Grand Rapids, Michael Geigle of Grand Rapids, Lydia Faith Geigle of White Cloud; daughter, Darla (Jeff) Wilks of Chesterton, Indiana and their children, Jeffrey Wilks of Chicago, Illinois, Jessica (Charlie) Cantwell of Hobart, Indiana; his brothers, Gary Thompson of Kalamazoo; Jan (Dorothy) Thompson of Greenwood, Indiana; his sisters, Debbie (Joey) Gibson of Springport, Indiana; Diana (Lonnie) McDaniel of St. Augustine, Florida; several nieces and nephews.
