David Joseph Szcytko, age 80 of Fremont, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2021 at the Newaygo County Compassion Home in Fremont. David was born on April 30, 1941 in Grand Rapids to Walter and Virginia (Jewell) Scczytko and married Shirley Woody on September 11, 1959 in Comstock Park. Shirley preceded him in death on February 6, 2006. He had worked for Sackner Products in Grand Rapids and was an avid fisherman. David enjoyed time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. David is survived by his children, Joe (Kathy) Scytko of Sparta, Tim (Paulette) Scytko of White Cloud, Valerie (Mark) Crump of Kentwood, David (Jennifer) Szczytko of Cooperville, Anna (Doug) Polasek of Fremont; Maybeth (Richard) Boersen of Brohman; 14 grandchildren, Joe (Amy) Scytko, Jesica (Brandon) Scytko, Tim Scytko Jr., Tony (Amber) Scytko, Cora (Kevin) Thompson, Mark Crump Jr., Allysyn Szczytko, Dave Szczytko Jr., Lola Szczytko, Jeremy Brzozowski, Brandon Polasek, Mackenzie (Micky) Boersen, Emily Boersen, and Rylee Boersen; 12 great-grandchildren, Henrick Kosheba, Taylor Scytko, Jasmine Scytko, Hunter Scytko, Autum Thompson, Audrey Thompson, Austin Thompson, Addison Thompson, Alexandra Vandrunen, Aliyah Vandrunen, David Vandsrunen, and Johnathon Vandrunan; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter Scytko, Jack Szczytko, Paul Scytko, and Dennis Scytko. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at the Crandell Funeral Home in White Cloud with Father Steve Geerling officiating. There will a time of visitation two hours prior to the service (11AM – 1 PM). Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in White Cloud.
