Christensen, Dean R. Dean R. Christensen, age 79 of Newaygo and his son David R. Christensen passed away Sunday, June 12, 2005 in Ontario, Canada following injuries received in an automobile accident while on their annual fishing trip. Dean was born on June 16, 1925 in Millbrook Township to Myron and Bertha (Bissell) Christensen and later met and married Betty Jean Parsons on August 17, 1948. Dean and Betty moved to Newaygo from the Flint and Grand Rapids area in 1962 and owned and operated Deans Trading Post on M-82 near Bills Lake until his retirement in 1972. Dean enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, gardening and yard work and all his family. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Jean of Newaygo; his children, Debbie (Gary) Rank of Cadillac; Diane (Glen) Hasted of Newaygo; his daughter-in-law, Vicki Christensen of Newaygo; his grandchildren, David Jon DJ (Yvonne) Christensen; Dean (Amy) Christensen; Stacey Christensen; Angie (Todd) Monroe) Gary Lee Rank II; Deanna (Mike) Monroe; his sister, Janeta Klunder of Big Rapids; his brother, Floyd Christensen of Springfield, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, L.T Christensen, Norma Johnson; Harry Christensen; Herb Christensen, Myron Christensen Jr.; Betty Butler. Funeral services were held for Dean and his son, David on Friday, June 18, 2005 from the Resurrection Life Church in Newaygo with Pastor Mark Slagh presiding with interment in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Croton Township.
