Obituary

Deborah Kay Emerick, age 65 of Fremont, passed away Friday, July 7, 2023 at her home following her battle with Glioblastoma. Deb was born on December 30, 1957 in Fremont to Orville and Wanda (Hedley) Price and graduated from Fremont High School. Deb married Mathew N. Emerick on June 1997in Virginia Beach, Virginia and has been a longtime resident of the Fremont area. Deb had worked as a Medical Records Clerk at Corewell Gerber Memorial Hospital in Fremont for over 20 years until her retirement in 2022. Deb was also a staff member of the First Congregational Church in Fremont for more than 20 years, where she was actively involved in youth and family ministry and served as the music facilitator. Deb enjoyed being known as the "Traveling Music Lady". Deb was part of the duo in "Patchwork Pear" performing with her husband Mat starting in 1990 and continuing for several years. Deb had been Mosaic artist and taught various classes with mosaic design and created art pieces that have been placed around the community. She enjoyed teaching guitar in the community as well throughout the years. Deb believed God wants everyone to use mosaic art and music in the lives of all people and for people to "make a joyful noise". She cherished helping others and her calling was to glorify God with her own creativity and encourage others to do the same. Deb is survived by her husband, Mat Emerick; her children, Jasen (Kelly) Veenstra of Houston, Texas; Tracey (Kristina) Veenstra of Grand Rapids; Nicholas Veenstra of Fremont; Scott (Rachelle) Veenstra of North Carolina; her grandchildren, Jackson Dean Veenstra, Ivy Willow (Matt) Yager, Ian Nicholas Veenstra, John Richard Veenstra; her father and mother, Orville and Wanda Price of Fremont; her brother, Daniel (Kathy) Price; sister-in-law, Andrea (Terry – dec) Price of Fremont; several nieces and nephews; her former husband, Doug Veenstra. Deb was preceded in death by; her brother, Terrence Price. VISITATION : Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 4-7pm at Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel 7193 W 48th Street Fremont MI 49412 and Friday, July 14, 2023 from 4-5pm at the First Congregational Church. CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICES : Friday, July 14, 2023 at 5pm at the First Congregational Church 714 Hillcrest Fremont MI 49412. INTERMENT : First Congregational Church Memorial Garden.
