Delbert I. Burkholder, age 82 of White Cloud, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 7, 2022 at the Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. Delbert was born on July 12, 1939 in Centreville, Michigan to Lowell H. and Helen May (Yoder) Burkholder and later moved to White Cloud where he graduated from White Cloud High School in 1957. Delbert met and later married Elizabeth "Betty" Kuhns on September 16, 1961 in White Cloud. Delbert had worked at the White Cloud Public Schools for 31 years and retired as head custodian and then began work as a sales clerk at Rosenburg Hardware in White Cloud for 10 years until his final retirement. Delbert truly enjoyed farming his property all his life, especially raising cattle from calves to full grown cattle and was a lifelong member of the White Cloud Mennonite Church where he had served Deacon for many years. Delbert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Burkholder of White Cloud; his children, Tim (Twila) Burkholder of Middleburg, Pennsylvania; Paul (Lori) Burkholder of White Cloud; Rebecca ((Richard) Bontrager of Seneca, South Carolina; Philip (Carolyn) Burkholder of Centerville, Michigan; 14 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; his sisters and brothers, Marjorie (Allen) Christner of Sedalia, Colorado; Miriam (Sanford) Christophel of Goshen, Indiana; Doris (Dean) Roberts of Vian, Oklahoma; Ruth Ann (Calvin) Hershberger of Topeka, Kansas; Ed (Carol) Burkholder of Elkhart, Indiana; sisters-in-laws, Carol Burkholder of White Cloud; Virginia Burkholder of North Canton; Ohio; several cousins and many nieces and nephews. Delbert was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Burkholder; brothers, Howard Burkholder, Nelson Burkholder, and David Burkholder.
