Delia Jean Horton, age 74, of White Cloud passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011, at Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial. Delia was born on April 6, 1937, in Detroit to Charles Eugene and Jean Anne (Nicholas) Bailey and married Howard J. Horton on June 25, 1955 in Livonia. Delia was a Livonia police officer for many years prior to moving to the White Cloud area in the mid 80s. She served as Fire Chief of the Merrill Township Fire and Rescue for many years and attended the Amazing Acres Grace Church in Brohman. Delia is survived by her children, John (Lynn) Horton of Union City, MI, Jean (Victor) Syracuse of Wisconsin, and Timothy Horton of White Cloud; many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Charles E. (Pat) Bailey Jr. of Stockbridge, MI, Jane A. Thompson of Garden City, MI., Leroy Bailey, of Florida, Merrie Wheelwright of FL., and Robert W. Bailey of Brownstown, MI.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard in 1994 and her son, Michael Horton in 1993. Funeral services will be held 1 PM on Friday, July 1, 2011, at the Amazing Grace Acres Church with visitation from 11 -1 PM prior to the service. Interment will be in Merrill Township Cemetery.
