IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Denise Elizabeth
Barkhuff
May 17, 1957 – March 15, 2026
Celebration of Life
Denise Elizabeth Barkhuff, aged 68, born on May 17, 1957 in Fremont, gently passed away at home on March 15, 2026. She was born to Ester and Franklin Macomber.
Denise graduated from White Cloud High School and spent her professional career in customer service, where she was loved by all for her warm heart and caring nature. Her hobbies included music, baking, and most importantly, spending time with her family. Denise was a woman of strength and grace, who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her resilience in the face of life's challenges was a testament to her strong character.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Ester and Franklin Macomber, her beloved husband, James Barkhuff, and her cherished brothers, James and Bill Macomber. Denise's memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those she left behind.
She is survived by her devoted children, Melissa Macomber, Dana Macomber, Franklin Macomber, and Ryan Macomber. Denise was also a loving aunt to her nephew, Nathan Macomber, and niece, Jessica. She was the proud grandmother of Franklin Macomber, Ian Dandrow, Braydon Dandrow, Hayden Armstrong, Savannah Macomber, Phoenix Macomber, Onyx Macomber, Derek Carrillos Jr, and Christopher Hensley. And her very best friend Dort Deacon. Denise's love for her family was endless, and she was the rock that held them all together.
Service arrangements will be a celebration of life service with a lunch provided at The Lions Den in White Cloud on April 4th from 1-5 pm. This will be a time for friends and family to gather, share memories, and celebrate the beautiful life that Denise lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you spend quality time with your loved ones, make a toast to enduring friendships lifelong and beyond, and make the effort to reach out to someone who might be lonely. These were values that Denise held dear.
Her life was a living example of the quote, "It's not the years in your life that count; it's the life in your years." And oh, what a life she lived.
Denise will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, resilience, and family unity will live on through the many lives she touched. May her soul rest in peace, and her spirit continue to inspire those she loved.
