Denise L. Stencel, age 59 of Ravenna, formerly of White Cloud, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at her home. Denise was born on June 29, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan to Anthony S. and Nancy J. (Petzel) Stencel and later moved to the White Cloud area where she graduated from Newaygo High School. Denise had worked for the Friend of the Court in Newaygo County for a short period of time until her retirement and moved to Ravenna in 2000. Denise had enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and knitting; hunting, fishing and camping in the Michigan outdoors; watching movies, collecting midevil memoriabila, and spending time with her family. Denise is survived by her children, Gene (Samantha) Pless of Toccoa, Georgia; Mark (Shannon) Pless of White Cloud; Julie (Mike) Frayer of Ravenna; her grandchildren, Travis, Shawn, Christian, Myah, Erik, Tyler, Brandon, Tony, Jesse, and Kendra; her great granddaughter, Kloee; sister and brothers, Mike (Laura) Stencel of Tennessee; Tom Stencel of Big Rapids; Terry (Diana) Stencel of White Cloud; Kim (Bob) DeCheney of White Cloud; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony in 2003 and Nancy in 2000; her sister, Darlene Taylor in 2009. A time of gathering and celebration will be held at a later date at the family home following cremation. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the Stencel family in memory of Denise.
