Dennis L. Tucker, age 73 of Fremont, passed away Friday, September 25, 2004 at the Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. Dennis was born on August 30, 1931 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Hugh W. and Irene A.L. (Iossi) Tucker and married Betty Visger on February 20, 1999 in Holton where he had been a longtime resident. He received his Master of Arts Degree from Michigan State University and had been a school teacher at Holton, Benona and Shelby Schools until his retirement. Dennis was a member of the Cornerstone Free Methodist Church in Holton and had also served as pastor of the Free Methodist Church in Meauwataka and Cadillac for several years. He had been a Boy Scout Leader for 25 years, was a member of the Gideons, and an avid coin collector. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Holton American Legion. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty; his children, Sheryl Tucker of Muskegon; James Tucker of Holton; Mark Tucker of Holton; 18 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; his mother, Irene Tucker of Belding; sisters, Delores (Ivan) Davenport of Saranac; Darlene (Paul) Savitano of Grand Haven; Karen (Dave) Legg of Livingston, Wisconsin; Mary Lou Pontius of Jamestown, Indiana; brother, William Bill (Eleanor) Tucker of Souix City, Iowa; former wife, Catherine Stewart of Springfield, Ohio; Bettys children, Dawn (Mickeal) Meyette of Fremont; Donna (Ronald) Laban of Rhodes, Michigan; Barbara (Larry) DeRuiter of Fremont; Linda (David) Russell of South Bend, Indiana; Alan (Lori) Visger of Morley; James (Jami) Visger of Clarksville, Tennessee. Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Hugh and by a brother, Ray. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 29, 2004 from the Cornerstone Free Methodist Church in Holton with Rev. David Grubar presiding with military rites under the auspices of the Holton American Legion, Cobb, Trygstad Anderson Post #397 at the Oakwood Cemetery in Holton.
