Derrick Duane Dixon, affectionately known as Dee Dee, was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 22, 1958 to the late Gus and Doris Dixon. One brother, Gus Jr. preceded him in death.
Dee Dee received his early education in the Highland Park school system. He later attended St. Martin de Porres High School in Detroit.
He had a strong passion for the church of God's people. As an adult, he was baptized in the name of Jesus at People's Community Apostolic Church, in Detroit, MI. he loved to help out around the church in any capacity he was needed. Dee Dee loved people and people loved him.
His family was his "world!" He genuinely loved and supported everyone. Dee Dee had a special concern and admiration for his parents. His siblings and cousins were his closest friends. Dee Dee was very protective of all his nieces and nephews and would make each one feel a special connection. He was famous for his line of questions…he took the time to know what was important to each individual and would remember the details of every conversation.
Of the many things Dee Dee enjoyed, sports was high on the list and he was an exceptional athlete. He played on several little league teams and continued to dominate as an athlete in his adulthood. He not only liked to play sports, but he also loved to watch games and was an avid fan of his home-town teams!
In 2005, Dee Dee moved from the Detroit area to White Cloud, MI. There he lived with his brothers, Larry and Garry. He loved being with his brothers and spending time with the Gilmore crew. Every Saturday, Dee Dee participated in a Horse Shoe Tournament. He didn't care if he won or lost, he just enjoyed spending time with everyone and making them feel at home. While in White Cloud, he attended Glory of the Latter House Ministries and was a great supporter of Pastor Jeffrey Murchison. Dee Dee loved his church!
